Rain Barrels Are Now Legal
For years, residents in Colorado have been fighting for their right to collect and store water from rain. On May 12th, this all changed when Governor Hickenlooper signed a bill that now allows Colorado residents to use up to two rain barrels to collect a maximum of 110 gallons of rainwater. Blue Moon and Mars Opposition This Weekend
This weekend, stargazers will have the opportunity to see a Blue Moon on Saturday and Mars in opposition on Sunday. According to accuweather.com, the next blue moon won’t be until January 31, 2018. Read about the history of the blue moon and what to expect this weekend here.
Sports Authority Closing All Stores
The sporting goods retailer, with headquarters in Englewood, Colorado, will be closing all 450 of its stores after filing for bankruptcy. There is still uncertainty of what will happen to the beloved Denver Broncos Mile High Stadium since Sports Authority technically still has the naming rights. On the bright side, it’s a great time to stock up on sporting good items that are heavily discounted. Full story here.
Downtown Streets Partially Closed Through Weekend
Some RTD Light Rail passengers will be affected Friday through Monday morning while select trains are closed for maintenance. This includes C, D, E, F and H lines north of the Interstate 25 and Broadway Station until 3 a.m. Monday. Service on the W line will not be affected. In addition, as part of the maintenance and repairs, downtown streets will be closed. “The biggest one is southbound Speer Boulevard, which is closed from Champa Street to Colfax Avenue for light rail repair and maintenance. It will reopen at 4 a.m. Monday. Traffic will detour onto Kalamath Street during the closure.” See all road closures and details on 9news.com.
