DIA Elevates “Pet-Friendly Airport” to a New Level

You are going to be flying on a plane soon, and you want to bring your beloved pet along. However, you’re not sure of the rules for traveling with pets, or if it’s even a good idea to bring your pet to the airport. Luckily, Denver International Airport has made it easier than ever to bring your dog or cat along when traveling by plane! DIA recently invested $500,000 to create three new “pet relief” rooms. These rooms were created to provide a safe, clean environment for your pet to take care of their business before catching your flight.
When entering the relief areas, you are greeted with a wall mural displaying pictures of dogs and their owners enjoying fun times in the great outdoors of Colorado. The relief rooms are carpeted with artificial turf, backed up with an efficient drainage system. This turf creates a comfortable, natural feeling environment for your dog to feel like they are in the great outdoors, all while staying completely inside! Also provided are waste bags, disposal containers, sinks, soap dispensers, hand dryers and paper towels to help make you and your pet’s visit to the relief areas as sanitary of an experience as possible.
The location of the relief areas can be found at: Jeppesen Terminal – Level 2 on the northwest side A Gates – near the U.S. Mail Drop B Gates – near the U.S. Mail Drop C Gates – near the U.S. Mail Drop
There are also options available for those who feel more comfortable leaving their pets behind instead of taking them on a plane. DIA now has Paradise 4 Paws, a pet resort for both dogs and cats to provide 24-hour care for your pet. There are many useful services offered at Paradise 4 Paws, including:
- Veterinary Assistance
- Dog Obedience Training
- Cat and Dog Grooming
- Pet Massage Therapy
- Pet Transportation

Although DIA is a very pet-friendly airport, dog-owners need to be aware of the pet policies practiced by the airline they will travel with. Your airline may not be as flexible with their pet policy compared to the airport’s policies. Consult with your airline before your trip to make sure your pet is allowed to travel with you. Here is a great blog post about what you can do with your pets while traveling. In a 2016 study, Denver was ranked as the 3rd most dog-friendly major city in the country. Denver’s undeniable love of dogs is a call for businesses to serve their customer’s pets with just as good service as they provide to their human customers! Canopy Parking is no stranger to this concept, as our shuttles are 100% pet-friendly. Providing safe, reliable transportation for you and your pet is always a top priority for us. So next time you travel through Denver International Airport, let Canopy Parking help take the stress away of traveling with your pet!
